| A Service Dog is much more than a dog with an Obedience School
certificate. Service Dogs undergo extensive training readying them to provide their companions with a helping hand
(or paw) in areas of their day to day life. This can include, but is certainly not limited to, the following: |
Trained to alert their companions to important sounds such as door bells/knocking, car
horns, and even the tea kettle boiling over. |
Trained to pull wheelchairs and help their companions get around. |
Trained to stay in a non-residential place such as a business and behave properly
around strangers, they require little supervision. |
These dogs are trained alert their owners to the presence of a nearby stranger. They
are a family alternative to a guard dog. |
General training, or training in a specific task, such as retrieving dropped items or
opening doors. |
Loving dogs, trained to be therapeutic companions to people who may have trouble caring
for a regular pet. They require less supervision and provide an ever present loving shoulder to lean on. |
