SPECIAL ASSISTING CANINES

CastleRock's Special Assisting Canines was created to help people with assistance dog training. An Assisting Canine can be trained to help overcome a specific disability, but they should not be left to this one definition. A service dog can be a dog trained for many tasks, from mobility assistance to therapy or even search and rescue. These dogs are a true joy to work with, uplifting the spirit as well as assisting in the physical sense.

My name is Cindy Choate and I have been training and breeding assistance dogs and show dogs since 1995. My love for dogs led me into the volunteer program for foster groups at the local humane society. This involves teaching and supporting people in training their dogs. I also developed a strong desire to train dogs to do much more than simple obedience training. Many people who have disabilities can have their situation greatly improved by the acquisition of an assistance dog. Even many pets can be given specialized training that is not available in conventional obedience or training programs.

CastleRock's Special Assisting Canines offers a program that, in addition to producing a well behaved pet, gives dogs the specialized training necessary for them to provide assistance to their companions in a variety of different situations. I have trained service dogs for hearing, mobility, therapy, alert and facility assistance as well as for hunting.  I am primarily working with English Springer Spaniels and Giant Schnauzers currently, but I have been training and breeding many different breeds for service and show.
